Stellantis EVs gain access to more than 27,000 Tesla Superchargers

Stellantis is expanding access to Tesla’s fast-charging network for its battery-electric vehicle customers in North America, opening up more than 27,500 Supercharger locations to drivers across several of its brands.

The move allows owners of electric vehicles from Dodge, Jeep, Ram, FIAT, and Maserati to use Tesla’s V3 and V4 Superchargers, provided they use a compatible adapter. The access is part of Stellantis’ broader effort to improve public charging availability and simplify the charging experience for its customers, particularly for long-distance travel and daily use.

To connect to Tesla’s network, Stellantis customers must use a North American Charging System (NACS) to CCS1 DC adapter offered through the company’s Free2move Charge program. These adapters are available for purchase through Stellantis low-emission vehicle-certified dealerships and through Mopar’s online retail platform. Tesla stations equipped with the company’s “Magic Dock” system, which includes a built-in adapter, are also compatible with Stellantis vehicles.

The requirement for an approved adapter reflects Tesla’s charging standard, which differs from the Combined Charging System (CCS) used by most non-Tesla electric vehicles currently on the market. Stellantis emphasized that only company-approved adapters should be used when connecting to Tesla Superchargers.

Alongside expanded network access, Stellantis is integrating Tesla charging locations into its Free2move Charge mobile application. The app allows users to locate compatible charging stations, check availability, and manage payment. It also includes access to other public charging providers, including AC and DC fast-charging networks such as IONNA.

The company positions the app as a central tool for managing charging sessions across different networks, which remains a common challenge for electric vehicle owners due to fragmented infrastructure and varying payment systems. By consolidating multiple networks into a single interface, Stellantis aims to streamline the charging process and reduce reliance on multiple apps or accounts.

Several current and upcoming Stellantis battery-electric models are compatible with Tesla Superchargers when using the adapter. These include the Dodge Charger Daytona for model years 2024 through 2026, the Jeep Wagoneer S for 2024 and 2025, and the upcoming 2026 Jeep Recon. Commercial customers using the Ram ProMaster EV from model years 2024 through 2026 are also included.

Smaller electric vehicles such as the FIAT 500e, covering model years 2024 through 2026, are also supported, along with several luxury models from Maserati. These include the GranTurismo Folgore and GranCabrio Folgore for model years 2024 through 2026, as well as the Grecale Folgore for 2025 and 2026.

The inclusion of both mass-market and luxury vehicles highlights Stellantis’ effort to standardize charging access across its portfolio, rather than limiting compatibility to specific brands or segments. It also reflects a broader industry trend in which automakers are increasingly adopting Tesla’s charging standard to improve interoperability and expand access to high-speed charging infrastructure.

Stellantis previously announced that it plans to transition to native NACS charging ports in future vehicles. The 2027 Dodge Charger Daytona is expected to be the first Stellantis model to include a built-in NACS port, eliminating the need for an adapter when using Tesla Superchargers.

This transition aligns Stellantis with several other automakers that have committed to integrating Tesla’s charging connector into upcoming electric vehicles. The shift is intended to reduce complexity for consumers and address concerns about charging compatibility, which has been a barrier to broader electric vehicle adoption.

Tesla’s Supercharger network is widely regarded as one of the most extensive and reliable fast-charging systems in North America. By opening access to non-Tesla vehicles, Tesla has effectively expanded the usable charging infrastructure for a growing number of electric vehicle owners. For automakers like Stellantis, participation in this network provides immediate access to a large number of high-speed charging locations without the need to build out equivalent infrastructure independently.

Stellantis described the expanded access as a milestone in its public charging strategy, noting that it enhances both coverage and usability. The company’s approach combines physical hardware, such as the adapter, with digital tools, such as the Free2move Charge app, to create a more unified charging ecosystem.

The company also referenced its involvement with other charging initiatives, including IONNA, a joint venture aimed at building a new high-powered charging network in North America. Integrating these networks into a single platform reflects Stellantis’ broader effort to offer flexibility and redundancy in charging options.

While the addition of Tesla Supercharger access significantly increases the number of charging locations, Stellantis customers will still need to verify compatibility at each station. Not all Tesla Superchargers are currently open to non-Tesla vehicles, and availability may vary depending on location and hardware configuration.

The expansion underscores a continuing shift in the electric vehicle market toward greater standardization of charging systems. As more automakers adopt the NACS connector and gain access to Tesla’s network, the distinction between proprietary and universal charging infrastructure is expected to diminish.

For Stellantis, the move represents a practical step toward improving the ownership experience for its electric vehicle customers. By improving charging accessibility and simplifying the process of locating and using stations, the company aims to address one of the primary concerns associated with electric vehicle adoption.

The broader impact of this transition will depend on how quickly Stellantis and other automakers implement native NACS ports and how widely Tesla continues to open its network. In the near term, adapters provide a transitional solution, enabling compatibility without requiring immediate hardware changes to existing vehicles.

As the industry continues to evolve, expanded network access and improved interoperability are likely to play a central role in shaping consumer perceptions of electric vehicle practicality. Stellantis’ latest move reflects that shift, emphasizing convenience and coverage over proprietary systems.
