Subaru of America introduced the 2026 Subaru Solterra EV at the 2025 New York International Auto Show. The updated electric SUV features a range of technical improvements, design changes, and added features over the prior model year. The new model includes standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assistance system.
The 2026 Solterra is powered by a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery and delivers an estimated range of over 285 miles, which is more than a 25 percent increase over the outgoing version. The vehicle includes a battery preconditioning system to maintain charging efficiency in colder weather. Charging from 10% to 80% is expected to take under 35 minutes with an estimated peak charging speed of 150 kW. The vehicle comes equipped with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, giving access to more than 15,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America.
The standard Solterra includes updated electric motors with a total output of 233 horsepower. A new XT trim introduces dual motors producing a combined 338 horsepower. Subaru claims this version can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under five seconds.
The Solterra retains 8.3 inches of ground clearance and features a dual-mode X-MODE system designed for snow, dirt, and mud. Subaru also revised the suspension and electric power steering for improved ride quality and handling. The all-wheel-drive control system now adjusts power and suspension balance based on load and driving conditions.
Inside the cabin, the Solterra adds a new 14-inch multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The vehicle includes 15W wireless charging for front occupants and USB-C charge ports for rear passengers. EyeSight driver-assistance technologies continue to be standard, including adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, emergency stop assist, and other features.
Exterior design changes include new headlamps, front and rear bumper redesigns, an illuminated Subaru logo, and updated wheels in 18- and 20-inch sizes. Inside, the layout has been adjusted to improve outward visibility and center console usability. Body-colored front fenders and two-tone color options will be available depending on configuration.
Full pricing and detailed specifications will be announced prior to the vehicle’s market launch later in 2025.
