Scout Motors announced an additional $300 million investment in South Carolina to build a Supplier Park at its Production Center in Blythewood. The development will be constructed adjacent to the company’s main facility and is projected to support approximately 1,000 supplier jobs. It is also expected to generate $368 million in additional local investment, bringing the cumulative impact of the project to nearly $700 million. The expansion does not include any new government incentives.

The Supplier Park will cover nearly 200 acres and include more than 2.3 million square feet of manufacturing and logistics space. It will be divided into three centers: a Just-in-Time facility for sequencing parts for final vehicle assembly, a battery assembly building designed for high-volume output, and an accessories building for upfitting and installing vehicle accessories. Scout Motors has begun finalizing supplier contracts, which are anticipated to further expand economic activity in the region.

Construction will be managed by Evans General Contractors, and PRP Real Assets is serving as project advisor. Early estimates suggest that supplier agreements already represent $368 million in investments, in addition to the company’s existing commitment of more than $2 billion in South Carolina.

State officials, including Governor Henry McMaster, Senator Thomas Alexander, House Speaker Murrell Smith, and Richland County Council Chair Jesica Mackey, praised the announcement, citing the project’s economic impact and job creation potential. U.S. Representative Joe Wilson also expressed support and noted he has reserved a Scout hybrid pickup truck.

Scout Motors plans to begin initial vehicle production at its Blythewood facility in 2027. The company was established to build a new generation of trucks and SUVs inspired by the International Harvester Scout, which was produced from 1961 to 1980.
