At a press event prior to the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, Toyota introduced the new 2024 Camry sedan. The updated model features a significant shift in its powertrain, moving exclusively to a hybrid system. The new Camry is powered by Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid 4-cylinder engine, with the only available option being a hybrid powertrain. For the first time, the Camry hybrid will offer all-wheel drive.

The hybrid-only Camry delivers 225 horsepower in front-wheel drive configurations. Opting for the “Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive” increases the output to 232 horsepower. This system, which powers the rear axle exclusively with an electric motor, reduces complexity and enhances power output, similar to the implementation in the new Prius.

The 2024 Camry features a redesigned front end with a grille inspired by the Avalon and Crown models, along with C-clamp style daytime running lights borrowed from the Prius. While the Camry retains its recognizable identity, the design introduces a fresh appearance.

The interior of the new Camry includes a new digital instrument cluster and Toyota’s latest infotainment system, which supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. An available JBL premium audio upgrade is also offered. The Camry continues to include Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which provides advanced safety features such as lane centering, adaptive cruise control, and rear emergency braking, with no additional charge for these features.

Pricing details are not yet available. The updated Camry is expected to arrive in showrooms in the Spring of 2024.
