Hyundai Motor America has introduced the 2025 IONIQ 5, which will be the first model range to be manufactured at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia. The 2025 IONIQ 5 lineup includes an expanded range of models, featuring enhancements in battery capacity, driving range, and innovative new features. Among the new offerings is the IONIQ 5 XRT variant, designed for off-road capabilities with rugged design elements.
The 2025 IONIQ 5 models will be available at Hyundai dealerships starting this fall. The new IONIQ 5 XRT model is aimed at customers seeking a more robust electric vehicle (EV) option. This model includes a dual motor all-wheel drive system, an 84 kWh battery, and a suspension lift of 23mm for improved off-road performance. The XRT model also features specific design elements such as digital camouflage cladding, unique front and rear fascias, and black accents throughout the exterior and interior.
In addition to the XRT variant, the entire 2025 IONIQ 5 range benefits from the inclusion of a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, allowing access to over 17,000 Tesla Superchargers without an adapter. This addition significantly expands the DC fast-charging network available to IONIQ 5 customers. The vehicle’s charging capabilities are further supported by a Combined Charging System (CCS) adapter, and all new or refreshed Hyundai EVs will exclusively feature the NACS port starting in Q4 2024.

The 2025 IONIQ 5 also comes with a variety of enhancements in safety, convenience, and technology. Notable features include a redesigned center console, a more powerful infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and an array of new safety features such as Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist and Forward Attention Warning with Direct Driver Monitoring System.
The IONIQ 5 models produced at HMGMA are expected to qualify for a $3,750 U.S. tax credit at the start of sales, with potential eligibility for additional federal tax incentives in the future. Hyundai continues to offer the $7,500 credit for leases, which is fully passed onto consumers through more attractive lease offers.
