Verge Motorcycles has announced the launch of Verge Next, a new business-to-business division intended to provide the company’s proprietary electric motorcycle technologies to other two-wheeled vehicle manufacturers. The new division will license Verge’s technology to companies producing scooters, mopeds, motorcycles, and electric bicycles.
Verge Motorcycles, known for its electric motorcycles, developed a range of proprietary technologies including the Donut engine, which was created in partnership with Donut Lab. Verge Next will make these technologies available in various sizes for integration into other two-wheeled vehicles. According to Verge, several manufacturers have shown interest and are planning to incorporate these components into their upcoming models.
Tuomo Lehtimäki, CEO of Verge Motorcycles, stated that the new division is a response to industry demand. Verge has received numerous inquiries about its technology and believes that Verge Next will allow manufacturers to improve safety, drivability, and other aspects of vehicle design. The company also indicated that discussions about potential partnerships with manufacturers have already taken place.
While Verge Motorcycles will continue producing electric motorcycles, Verge Next will handle licensing and the sale of its technology platforms and components. Marko Lehtimäki, CEO of Donut Lab and Chairman of the Board at Verge Motorcycles, emphasized the expertise of the Verge Next team in developing and manufacturing two-wheeled vehicles using the company’s innovations.
