Volvo Cars has announced expanded charging access for its fully electric vehicle lineup in the United States and Canada, allowing drivers to use over 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations in these regions. This new access includes compatibility with the upcoming Volvo EX90 flagship SUV as well as other models like the EX40 and EC40, starting with the 2025 model year. Drivers of these models will receive an adapter to enable charging at Tesla Superchargers and other North American Charging Standard (NACS) chargers, adding to the existing range of fast-charging options available to Volvo owners.
Current fully electric Volvo owners may also purchase NACS adapters at authorized Volvo retailers for a suggested retail price of $230 in the United States and $310 in Canada. Orders are now open, with shipments to dealerships expected to start on November 18, 2024. Volvo plans to announce adapter availability for the EX30 model at a later date.

To facilitate charging, Volvo’s mobile app offers drivers in both countries access to a network of public charging stations, real-time availability updates, and a single interface for payment. Additionally, charging locations can be accessed through Google Assistant integration in the vehicle’s infotainment system.
Volvo Car USA and Canada President Mike Cottone stated that this expansion aligns with Volvo’s broader electrification strategy and aims to simplify the charging process for Volvo electric vehicle drivers, particularly with the launch of the EX90.
