Imagine stepping onto a starship in the 25th century, feeling a rush of excitement as you command the holodeck to replicate Laguna Seca. In front of you, a high-performance sports car awaits. It’s not just a simulation; it’s an experience. That’s the essence of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N—an EV that embodies the thrill of driving with a high-tech twist.

Performance Meets Technology

The Ioniq 5 N isn’t just a sportier version of the Ioniq 5; it’s a reimagining of what an electric car can be. Equipped with a completely redesigned suspension system and adjustable dampers, the Ioniq 5 N offers a ride that’s both compliant and exhilarating. Even in its stiffest setting, the car remains surprisingly comfortable.

One standout feature is the N e-shift mode. Despite having a single-speed gear typical of most EVs, this mode simulates the feel of an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Hyundai’s software tricks the senses, making the driving experience feel as though it’s powered by a traditional engine with gear shifts and simulated revs.

A Joy to Drive

With 601 horsepower and 545 lb-ft of torque available via the N Grin Boost button, the Ioniq 5 N delivers thrilling performance. It features an 800-volt charging system, allowing for an 18-minute charge from 10-80%, though real-world charging infrastructure may vary. Its range of 221 miles ensures that you can enjoy a spirited drive without worrying too much about range anxiety.

Interior and Practicality

The Ioniq 5 N’s interior blends sportiness with practicality. The manually adjustable seats are heavily bolstered but still comfortable, and they come with heating and ventilation—a rare combination for manual seats. The rear window wiper is a welcome feature for 2025 Ioniqs, enhancing visibility and practicality.

Pricing and Options

Starting at $67,475, the Ioniq 5 N is priced competitively against luxury EVs like the Porsche Taycan GTS. For an additional $1,000, you can get the eye-catching matte blue paint, though the no-cost Soultronic Orange is equally striking.

The Verdict

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is more than just a futuristic vehicle; it’s a testament to how far electric performance has come. With its engaging drive, innovative tech, and practical features, it proves that the future of driving is both exciting and accessible. If you’re skeptical about EVs or advanced automotive tech, a test drive might just change your mind.
