The 2023 Lexus RX lineup introduces two new hybrid models, the RX 350h and the RX 500h F Sport Performance, offering a blend of luxury, efficiency, and enhanced driving dynamics. As the latest iterations of Lexus’s popular RX series, these models bring a fresh approach to the hybrid SUV segment, combining the brand’s reputation for comfort and reliability with advanced hybrid technology and sportier driving characteristics.

The RX 350h serves as the more traditional hybrid offering in the lineup. It features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a balanced mix of power and efficiency. The combined system output is 246 horsepower, which is adequate for everyday driving and long highway cruises. The RX 350h emphasizes fuel economy, offering an appealing option for those who prioritize efficiency without sacrificing the luxury experience that Lexus is known for.

On the other hand, the RX 500h F Sport Performance is designed for drivers who seek a more dynamic and engaging driving experience. This model pairs a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine with an electric motor to deliver a combined output of 366 horsepower. The all-wheel-drive system and sport-tuned suspension further enhance the driving dynamics, providing sharper handling and a more responsive feel on the road. The F Sport Performance variant also features unique styling elements, including a more aggressive front fascia, larger wheels, and sportier interior accents.

During our first drive, both models exhibited the hallmark refinement of the Lexus brand. The cabins are well-appointed with high-quality materials, advanced technology, and a focus on comfort. The RX 350h offers a quiet and composed ride, ideal for those who appreciate a serene driving environment. Meanwhile, the RX 500h F Sport Performance stands out with its more engaging and athletic driving character, making it a compelling choice for those who desire a sportier edge in their luxury SUV.

In terms of technology, both models come equipped with the latest Lexus infotainment system, featuring a large touchscreen interface, smartphone integration, and a suite of driver assistance features. The overall design is user-friendly, with intuitive controls and high-resolution displays.

Fuel efficiency is a strong point for both models, with the RX 350h delivering better fuel economy figures, as expected from a more traditional hybrid setup. The RX 500h, while slightly less efficient due to its higher performance capabilities, still offers a competitive edge in fuel savings compared to non-hybrid competitors in the luxury SUV market.

In conclusion, the 2023 Lexus RX 350h and RX 500h F Sport Performance cater to different aspects of the hybrid SUV market. The RX 350h is ideal for those who value efficiency and comfort, while the RX 500h F Sport Performance is perfect for drivers seeking a balance of luxury and sporty driving dynamics. Both models enhance the RX lineup, offering versatile options that uphold Lexus’s legacy of quality and refinement.
